The Colorado Emergency Redistricting Powers Committee was created to support the passage of the Colorado Election Rigging Response Act, a constitutional amendment that grants Colorado’s Governor and Legislature emergency redistricting powers in response to partisan gerrymandering in other states.

Why this matters:

In 2018, voters approved an independent redistricting commission to keep politics out of Colorado’s maps. That was a step forward. But while Colorado stays frozen until 2030, states like Texas and Florida are redrawing their maps mid-decade to tilt Congress in their favor. This undermines fairness nationwide and weakens Colorado’s voice in Washington.
