Color Of Change was founded in 2005, just three weeks after Hurricane Katrina hit. Katrina made it clear that there were no consequences for hurting Black communities, and we needed to mobilize a movement to change that.
Since then, we've built a force of millions of Black folks and allies as one of the nation's leading racial justice organizations and taken on some of the most powerful corporations and institutions in America — and won.
Two decades later, our ongoing fight to build real power for Black people could not be more urgent, as we face the harms of a neo-segregationist movement spearheaded by the Trump administration that is determined to roll back decades of progress and protections.
Under the leadership of our new President and CEO Nadine Smith, Color Of Change is prepared to deepen its impact, strengthen its organizing power, and meet the challenges ahead with focus, courage, and unity. But we need grassroots supporters to rally behind us—rush a gift of $25 or more today to welcome Nadine and ensure that we are fully resourced for the fights ahead in 2026 and beyond!
