Moms Demand Action is working on Wear Orange Day begun by friends of a 15 year old Chicago honor student who was killed by gunfire in 2012. Orange is the color hunters wear to protect themselves. The Wear Orange Campaign, inspired by teens who held the first event on Hadiya's birthday in 2015, has turned into a nationwide movement to honor the victims and survivors of gun violence in America. Last year hundreds of thousands of Americans joined us on June 2nd. This year we're planning a bigger, brighter display to give everyone the chance to join our movement and to lend their voice to the call to end gun violence.
We will be hosting Helena events on June 2-3 to draw attention to the gun violence epidemic across our country and for the first time ever, we are fundraising so we can host a great community event.
93 Americans die every day from gun violence and it doesn't have to be this way. Wear Orange Day is a way to bring attention to this issue and speak out for common sense to protect our children and save lives.
