Gabrielle *Abby* Godino for Charlestown Planning Commission

I moved to Charlestown in 2017 when I bought my first house in the welcoming Five Seasons neighborhood off Carolina Back Road. I grew up nearby in Narragansett Pier, and spent the last decade working and volunteering as a public interest researcher, legislative policy advocate, and grassroots organizer. In 2021, I opened Angel Building Company; we are a construction firm passionate about modern building science, and specialize in energy efficient practices and technologies.

I believe Charlestown's economic future deserves just as much focus as our environmental objectives, and one shouldn't come at the cost of another. Currently, the only approach the Planning Commission is taking to support and preserve our vital natural ecosystems seems to be conservation and land use regulation. Protecting our rural charm is an absolute priority, but the Planning Commission is responsible for so much more. And its efforts should be more connected to the needs of residents.

If elected to Planning Commission, I would like to see more resident engagement and collaboration in deciding on how we can use our shared assets, and how we can create opportunity for stewardship, community building and sustainable economic growth.
