Hi everyone, a little bit about me. I am the current board member for District 1, having been appointed to fill a vacancy back in April. I never thought I would run for office. I have spent my career in the advocacy field, having worked for organized labor and on behalf of local conservation efforts. As a parent of a student in the district though, I was intrigued by the opportunity to serve with the chance to help pick our next superintendent. I’m enthusiastic about our choice and I’m excited to continue working with Superintendent Ruiz as we implement a bold, strategic, and community focused plan for our public schools.
My goals will be to:
- Improve after school options for students.
- Increase our partnership network from outside the district.
- Address and fix our long term transportation issues.
- Support staff in their critical work.
Ultimately my goals will be to identify opportunities on how we can create our safest, strongest, most creative, and boldest schools.
I have lived in Las Cruces for 14 years. Have a daughter who is a sophomore in LCPS. My wife, Johana Bencomo, serves on the Las Cruces City Council.
Thank you again for all the early support and looking forward to your continued support.
