Massachusetts law requires political committees to report receipts and expenditures. Donations totaling $50 or more in any calendar year must be identified by name and address of the donor. If an individual donates $200 or more in a calendar year, the law also requires us to ask for the contributor's occupation and employer. Without instructions to the contrary, donations by check drawn on a joint account (as well as donations designated to be from two donors jointly) will be divided equally for the purpose of the campaign finance reporting.
Massachusetts contribution limits (MGL Ch. 55 Sec. 7A): The aggregate of all such contributions for the benefit of any one candidate and that candidate's committee shall not exceed the sum of $1,000 in a calendar year.
