I'm a small business owner, a mother of two boys who attend Foxboro public schools, and I'm running for School Committee to promote the health and safety of all students, increase funding for special education, and improve our inclusion outreach.

My family and I have lived in Foxboro since 2011. My oldest son Aareb is in high school and my youngest son, Zain, is in middle school.

My decision to run for the school board has primarily been driven by a growing need for transparency and a fresh perspective so we can focus on areas that have not been getting the right attention.

I am committed to putting our children first by giving them access to an optimal education system that enables them to be successful as young adults.

The first step in making better decisions is to learn from what is working well, and assess what needs change. As a school committee member, I would focus on promoting:

  • Community Involvement - let’s participate in open dialogue on how funds of the school district are being spent and may need to be re-allocated to better meet the responsibilities and challenges our students and teachers are facing.
  • Curriculum expansion - we have intelligent, creative, thoughtful children in our community - their different interests make them so unique! Let’s feed that creativity and diversity by supporting the arts, athletics, special and gifted education, vocational education, anti-bully program, and all the unique challenges that exist today.
  • College Preparedness - many of our kids will be seeking college admission during their senior year of high school - let’s motivate them to get into their top colleges and elevate programs in place to make this journey a success!
  • Value our Educators - we are so thankful to our educators. They teach our children, often with limited resources at their disposal. Let’s empower our educators and teachers by providing them with the right tools, support, and professional development so they can continue to teach our future leaders. A sign of progress is here is the retention of our educators and staff. Let’s remember, those from our community who feel valued and appreciated will always work harder for our children.

Many of you in Foxboro and surrounding communities will know me from our work together through school meetings, interfaith organizing, our Democratic Town Committee, and community food drives to help our low income neighbors. I look forward to getting to know many more of you, and to talk about our shared vision for our public schools.

I hope to earn your vote, and ask that you donate to my campaign to help me reach as many members of our community as possible.
