Thank you for contributing to my re-election campaign. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve my hometown thus far.
The last three and a half years as Mayor have been an immense privilege. We have accomplished so much. From a policy standpoint, I am most proud of the launch and expansion of Rise Up Cambridge, the only city-wide cash assistance program of its kind in the country. This initiative began in my office, starting as a pilot in 2021. I advocated for its expansion and was able to secure a $22 million commitment to provide assistance to families with kids using funds received by the City from the federal American Rescue Plan Act. Thanks to this work, low-income Cambridge households with children are eligible to receive $500 per month for 18 months, offering them the invaluable support of financial stability.
This term, I also formed a City Council and School Committee Ad-Hoc in collaboration with the Office of Early Childhood Education to continue working towards Universal Pre-K in Cambridge. Starting in 2024, the Cambridge Preschool Program will provide free school-day, school-year preschool to every 4-year-old and some 3-year-olds living in Cambridge. Every child in Cambridge deserves access to quality early childhood education. I look forward to the lasting impact of universal preschool on our community.
Finally, we passed a new Building Energy Use Disclosure Ordinance (BEUDO) and put our largest-emitting buildings on a path to zero emissions by 2035. This makes Cambridge a leader in greenhouse gas reductions and will make our city a healthier place for all of us to live.
Our team is grateful for your support. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
