Democrats have a 30,000 person enrollment edge in Onondaga County. But through partisan gerrymandering Republicans have held on to majority control.
In 2019, 9 out of the 11 Republican candidates for County Legislature who won did so after signing a pledge to accept fair, independent, nonpartisan redistricting following the 2020 Census. But on July 7, 2020, the Legislature rejected a proposal to implement that pledge on a party-line vote. Every Republican voted no and every Democrat voted yes.
100% of the funds raised through this page will be utilized for Democratic candidates in next year’s general election for Onondaga County Legislature and to defeat the Republicans who signed the Fair Maps CNY pledge and did not support fair redistricting.
