I am honored to have the support of the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA), the strongest possible ally in the fight to fully fund our public schools and end the school to prison pipeline.
The Council of School Supervisors and Administrators is the collective bargaining unit for 6,100 Principals, Assistant Principals, Supervisors and Education Administrators who work in the NYC public schools and 200 Directors and Assistant Directors who work in city-subsidized Centers for Early Childhood Education (ECE). CSA also has more than 10,000 members in its Retiree Chapter. The endorsement from the CSA is a show of force for our campaign, with its thousands of educator members standing side-by-side in the fight for equitable education. Please join them in supporting our movement!
During my 20 year career as a public school teacher, guidance counselor and principal, I have served the most amazing children and families of New York City. But I also saw families struggle every day with poverty, illness, and the loss of a loved one due to incarceration. With the support of incredible organizations like CSA, a new day for equitable public education that works for all kids is on the horizon.
Unions don't usually endorse primary challengers -- this is big. This endorsement is yet another sign that our campaign is gaining momentum against an incumbent who has been fine with the status quo for too long.
The district and the country deserves better when it comes to education and I am going to fight to make that happen in Washington.
