Donavan McKinney is a lifelong Detroiter. He was raised by his mother and grandmother who taught him the importance of community, leadership, and service. He is a proud product of Detroit Public Schools and a graduate of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, with a B.A. degree from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
Donavan is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He worships and serves as a trustee at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ in Detroit. On Labor Day Weekend 2019, he married the love of his life Shaunté, who is an attorney. On Valentine's Day of this year, the McKinney’s welcomed the newest addition to their family, another beautiful baby boy, Robert.
Currently, Donavan is serving his first term in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Donavan is now running to be your next State Representative in Michigan’s new 11th District, representing most of Northeast Detroit and the south side of Warren.
