CYD August 2023 State Leadership Committee Meeting

Let's build CYD's most progressive platform ever! The California Young Democrats will be convening our State Leadership Committee ("SLC") meeting from Friday, August 18th - Saturday, August 19th at the Marriot & Convention Center in Visalia, where we'll craft a CYD platform that loudly proclaims our values. And taking a stand on our values is needed now more than ever!

In recent years, we have seen a rising tide of right wing extremism. MAGA extremists all over the state and the country are attacking LGBTQIA+ communities, repealing reproductive rights, spreading anti-AAPI hate, attacking workers’ rights to dignity and fair pay, and destroying our environment. Join us in strategizing, preparing, and mobilizing to protect our rights.

CYD's SLC meeting will include a welcome reception in Visalia as a way to network and build stronger bonds across the state. The weekend will consist of committee meetings, caucus meetings, workshops/training sessions, and regional meetings, among other programming as we prepare to defeat MAGA extremists in the March primary!

Ticket types are as follows:

1. Statewide Officers and Regional Directors

2. Ex Officios

• CYD Immediate Past President
• Any Officer of YDA, CDA, or HSDA residing in the State of California who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter
• Any member of the DNC who is a member of a chartered Young Democrats chapter;
• Any elected CDP officer

3. The Presidents of each duly chartered chapter and, by their appointment before the meeting, one (1) chartered member of their chapter of a differing gender as them [or their proxy] whenever possible

4. Caucus Chairs

• The Chairs of all Standing Caucuses (CCD President & CAHSD Chair) and, by their appointment before the meeting, one (1) chartered member of their chapter of a differing gender as them [or their proxy] whenever possible.
• The Chairs of all Special Caucuses and, by their appointment before the meeting, one (1) chartered member of their chapter of a differing gender as them [or their proxy] whenever possible.

5. Any CDP Executive Board member who is a member of a chartered Young Democrats chapter

NOTE: The chairs of all Standing and Special Committees are non-voting members.
