Support My Campaign for OUSD District 3

As an Oakland native and graduate of Oakland Public Schools, I firmly believe in the transformative power of education. Now, I’m running for the OUSD School Board to make a difference.

Why I’m Running:

As you consider supporting my campaign for the OUSD School Board representing District 3, let me share why I’m running. I firmly believe in the transformative power of education. I serve as the cofounder and executive director of We Lead Ours (WELO). WELO is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides youth in Oakland and surrounding areas with school and community-based enrichment programs year-round since January 2010. Through my work as Executive Director I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact education can have on individuals and communities. Which has deepened my understanding of what our students need in order to compete in a city that is constantly changing. I am optimistic that with a quality education our students will graduate from OUSD ready for the world. 

• Experience: With 19 years of educational experience across OUSD and other Bay Area school districts. I’m uniquely positioned to improve family engagement, academic achievement, and safe learning environments in our schools.
• Community Service: I have served as the Western Regional Secretary for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., a former Oakland Parks & Recreation Commissioner, and a former member of the Board of Directors for Keep Oakland Beautiful. Currently, I serve as a BART Title VI and Environmental Justice Advisory Committee Member, a City of Oakland Sugar Tax Advisory Commissioner, and as a member of the Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation Board of Directors.
• Achievements: Xavier University of Louisiana’s 40 Under 40 Young Alumni Club in 2015, receiving The Golden State Warriors Community Champion Award in 2018, and earning the City of Oakland Inspirational Leadership Award from the Mayor’s Office in 2020. Notably, I worked with the Mayor’s Office to declare June 14, 2021, as Oakland’s Youth Civic Engagement Day.
• Education: I hold a psychology degree from Xavier University of Louisiana and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
