Hi my name is Daniella Kelley! I’m the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner of Single Member District 1A09, and I’m running for reelection on November 3!


What is an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner?


Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners (ANCs) are volunteer, nonpartisan hyper-local government officials that advise DC government on issues affecting DC neighborhoods. Each ANC represents about 2,000 residents. ANC 1A09 represents parts of Columbia Heights. 


Who is Daniella Kelley?


I am the current Commissioner for 1A09! I am a community organizer and environmental professional who is also a Columbia Heights renter, transit-rider, biker and dog mom! 


I dream of a Columbia Heights with secure and affordable housing, a variety of accessible and safe transportation options, thriving small businesses, strong local culture, and safety for ALL of its residents. 


What have I accomplished so far?


• Passed legislation calling on DC to ban ICE agents from wearing masks.

• Led ANC1A’s transportation committee, passing several pieces of legislation for faster and safer transit in Columbia Heights.

• Advocated for the removal of National Guard and other federal agents from DC through city-wide letter.

• Passed legislation and led advocacy for cleaner streets and solutions to the rodent crisis.

• Supported our most vulnerable neighbors with advocacy and direct services.

• Led pushes to ensure corporations reinvest in Columbia Heights.


What will I do in my next term?


  • Advocate for neighbors and Columbia Heights issues with city officials.
  • Continue leadership for safer streets for pedestrians and bikers.
  • Increase advocacy around neighborhood-wide rodent mitigation.
  • Continue advocacy for the removal of federal agents in DC. 
  • Champion the Neighborhood Management Authority to bring more programming, events and small business support to Columbia Heights.
  • Reduce violent crime by advocating for increased investment in mental health services, substance use solutions and youth programs.
