Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I was born and raised in Berkeley by a single mom in a rent-controlled apartment. Mom grew up in Oakland, was an avid activist, and worked as public school secretary. My father was a professor of music at UC Berkeley. I spent my early career as an outdoor educator around the county and now work as a child and young adult therapist. I’ve lived in District 1 with my husband for 20 years, and our daughter was born a couple months into our time here.
I am running for City Council to to protect the best aspects of Berkeley - our arts and culture, our commitment to civil rights, our beautiful waterfront and parklands, and the unique character of our neighborhoods and businesses.
The affordability crisis is Berkeley a harder and harder place for families to stay. District 1 needs more low and middle income housing, more transitional and permanent supportive housing to get people off the streets with dignity, reduced barriers to starting and running small businesses, and urban planning that generates resiliency through abundant common space, ease of transit, and reliable infrastructure.
Please support me in building compassionate government that works!
With love and solidarity!
