"We’re facing an unprecedented assault on democracy, civil rights, and affordability in America that directly impacts the daily lives of my neighbors here in Newark and the 23rd RD.

As a professor and the current Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Delaware, I’ve been teaching students about democracy, elections, and how to be engaged in their local communities for decades. I’ve also run for office myself, and I’ve won - twice.

This moment demands a leader who knows how to face it. The whole of my life’s experience gives me the knowledge and skillset to be an effective voice for the people of the 23rd RD in Dover as we stand against these threats together.

When it's hard to have hope, I look to my students. I see worry for their futures, but I also see their sense of hope as they develop the tools, knowledge, and passion to make things better. I teach them, but I also learn from them, and they've inspired me to bring that hope to Dover."
