24/7 Free, Confidential Care for Survivors of Assault in DC
The District of Columbia Forensic Nurse Examiners (DCFNE) provides free, confidential medical forensic exams for survivors of violence in Washington, DC.
Since 2013, our forensic nurses have cared for more than 9,100 survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Each exam represents trauma-informed medical care delivered at one of the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life.
This work is possible because of a community-wide commitment to survivors. Hospital partners, victim advocates, funders, and individual donors all play a role in ensuring survivors have access to compassionate care and high-quality evidence collection.
As the District’s sole provider of forensic nursing services for adult survivors, DCFNE maintains a 24/7/365 on-call response so survivors can access care whenever they need it.
Support from our community ensures that survivors are never turned away and never left without care.
