District of Columbia Forensic Nurse Examiners

Celebrate 13 Years of Standing With Survivors

On February 13, the District of Columbia Forensic Nurse Examiners (DCFNE) celebrates a special milestone: our golden birthday.

For 13 years, we have provided free, confidential medical forensic exams to more than 9,100 survivors of violence in Washington, DC. Every exam represents compassionate, trauma-informed care at one of the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life.

This impact is possible because of a community-wide commitment to survivors. From hospital partners and victim advocates to funders and individual donors, we are deeply grateful to the people who make this work possible every day.

As the District’s sole provider of forensic nursing care for adult survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, DCFNE relies on community support to maintain our 24/7/365 on-call response. Your generosity ensures that survivors are never turned away and never left without care.

When you give today, you are standing with survivors and the nurses who care for them.

Your Gift in Action:

  • $13 helps reach more than 700,000 DC residents with information about accessing forensic care
  • $35 covers the cost of a Physical Evidence Recovery Kit (PERK)
  • $50 provides round-trip transportation for a survivor to and from their exam
  • $100 supports annual self-care and mental health resources for one DCFNE staff member
  • $250 helps maintain high-quality forensic documentation equipment
  • $500 funds training and continuing education for a forensic nurse

Every dollar strengthens access, dignity, and justice for survivors.

Join us in celebrating 13 years of service and help shape the next 13.
