When I first ran for office, I did it because I believed our government works best when the people making decisions understand the lives of the people they represent.

As an immigrant who grew up here in Montgomery County, I know how much opportunity can change the course of a family’s life. I also know how important it is to have leaders who will fight to make sure those opportunities are available to everyone.

Since joining the Maryland House of Delegates, I’ve worked to turn those values into action. I’ve fought to make health care more accessible, protect immigrant families, support older Marylanders and people with disabilities, and make our state government work better for the people who depend on it. And we’ve already shown that we can get meaningful things done.

This year, I passed legislation removing an outdated citizenship barrier in Maryland law and another law expanding access to in-state tuition for undocumented students. These are the kinds of changes that can make a real difference in someone’s life.

But there is so much more work ahead.

I’m incredibly grateful that District 16 voters chose me as one of their Democratic nominees in the June primary. Now, we have a general election to win in November and another legislative session right around the corner.

I don’t take this job, or the trust that comes with it, for granted. I want to keep showing up, listening, doing the work and fighting for a Maryland where every family has the opportunity to thrive.

Campaigns take resources, and every contribution helps us reach more voters and build the grassroots campaign we need for November

.

Will you chip in $10, $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can today to help keep me fighting for District 16?

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’m just getting started.
