The Democrats of Greater Tucson (DGT) has been an active regional political club for almost 50 years. Our structure and mission have evolved, but our essential purpose remains vital: helping Democrats in the Greater Tucson region stay informed and connected with their Democratic officeholders and candidates.
Today we serve that mission mainly through our public Weekly Zoom Shows (Mondays at noon), frequent Happy Hour gatherings, and new programming including Member-only briefings from political operatives, public debates, and discussion panels. These program costs are generally covered by smaller donations and Membership dues — just $30 per year as of Oct. 1, 2026.
Our PAC's Mission
In 2025, we amended our Bylaws to allow our associated PAC to endorse and contribute in Democratic primary elections. For 2026 and beyond, we are assembling a stellar Political Committee (PolCom) to vet candidates and recommend endorsements and significant candidate donations to our Board and Membership. We are building diversity of opinion, perspective, and experience among PolCom's voting members to sharpen our vetting and deploy PAC resources tactically.
Together we aim to build a stronger political bench and expand our map in Southern Arizona by focusing on local offices: City, Town, County, and school board offices, including Justices of the Peace and elections-related offices. We seek to encourage younger, well-qualified candidates, and first-time candidates of any age, to run for office. We strongly prefer candidates and incumbents demonstrably focused on making government serve the residents of their districts rather than special interests, and on helping average Arizonans thrive.
Our public programs let Members and the Board meet and question local candidates and incumbents in an open, recorded forum — a major competitive advantage in local knowledge and experience. We also invite candidates through our PAC's application process for full vetting, which individual donors rarely have time to do. We therefore save donors the time and effort of detailed due diligence on these local contests, while ensuring our candidates get the support and resources they need to succeed.
