The Eaton Fire has caused unprecedented devastation, destroying over 7,000 structures, including homes and businesses, and displacing or impacting more than 100,000 people. Among those most affected are Black families in Altadena, a historic community built in response to systemic redlining, who have been disproportionately impacted. These families now face immense challenges in accessing critical aid, rebuilding their lives, and competing for limited resources, highlighting the urgent need for equitable and effective disaster recovery solutions.
When emergencies like this strike, organizations mobilize quickly to raise funds for those affected, yet it is often hard to secure the specialized expertise needed to quickly deploy funds quickly and track impact data. End Poverty in California has joined forces with FORWARD to create the Dena Care Collective–a centralized and integrated platform designed to deliver immediate and secure financial assistance, case management and critical information. Our hub's critical analytics are essential to understanding the unique trends, needs and service-demands of our communities and the microdemographics of the populations being served.
Thorugh the Dena Care Collective, we'll ensure that residents receive the support they urgently need while also building a foundation for recovery, resilience, and equity in the years to come.
As we continue our fight to end poverty in California, we invite you to join us in rebuilding Altadena and Pasadena.
