Desmond Meade Matching Up To $75,000 to Pay Fines and Fees So That Returning Citizens in Florida Can Vote

Goal thermometer

I'm Desmond Meade, Executive Director of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition. We passed Amendment 4 in Florida to restore voting rights to over 1.4 million people with past felony convictions, because as directly impacted people, we know what it's like to lose our voice. Casting my ballot for the first time in 30 years was a sacred moment for me, and I want every returning citizen to feel what I felt in that voting booth, to use their voice and their power, and to vote in every election.

Right now, Florida is silencing the voices of over 700,000 people who have fines and fees on their conviction. FRRC created a fund to pay those outstanding fines and fees so all our brothers and sisters can regain their right to vote.

Today I'm putting it all on the line for Florida and giving $75,000 from my award money to help pay fines and fees for those who are still unable to vote in November.

There has never been a more crucial moment in our democracy, and so in 2020, I'm challenging you to double down! I will match dollar-for-dollar any contribution you make up to $75,000. Our vote is our voice and when we use it, we have the power to change the state of Florida, the country, and the whole world. Please give whatever you can and LET MY PEOPLE VOTE!
