My name is Devin Rydel Kelly and I'm running for Pierce County Charter Review Commission. I'll fight for expanding democratic access to county council, protecting our most vulnerable residents, and holding our elected leaders accountable to the inclusive, democratically-decided laws of Pierce County and Washington State, rather than arbitrary or hateful Presidential decrees.
I've spent almost 30 years leading fights for social, economic and environmental justice. I've helped win recent local victories for union drives, tenant rights, and creating Tacoma's non-police crisis response team. I brought this same energy to my recent campaign for the WA State Legislature, where I earned almost 15,000 votes and raised $90,000.
It's important to bring such a vision to the charter review process in this moment of rampant inequality, elite domination of politics, and attacks on all our rights. These reviews only take place every 10 years. Let's spend the next decade with the charter serving everyone, not just wealthy elites and elected officials.
I'm running for Charter Commissioner, District 4, Seat 2. If elected, I'll be one of 21 commissioners spending a short six months deciding the next decade. Please give today, then help elect me and other people-powered commissioners throughout the county. Help us fight for a future that works for all.
