Andrea Joy Campbell is living proof that a girl who grew up in public housing, with a family torn apart by poverty and incarceration, can turn pain into purpose and graduate from Princeton University and UCLA Law School. Her hardships — but also the potential for hope and healing — are the very reason she was the first in her family to go to college, law school, and become a lawyer.
As an education lawyer, General Counsel at the Massachusetts Area Planning Council, Legal Counsel for Governor Deval Patrick, and as Boston City Council President, Campbell has spent her life and career protecting and advocating for those who are let down by government. Campbell will be an Attorney General who doesn’t just know the law – but who understands the struggles of the people the law is supposed to protect and serve.
