As Minority Leader in the Ohio Statehouse, Emilia Sykes worked to craft a comprehensive police reform package that restores accountability, modernizes use-of-force standards, and tackles racial bias to promote the safety and security of all Ohioans. Sykes is fighting to raise the federal minimum wage, guarantee paid overtime, and deliver tax breaks for working families. She is also committed to protecting access to quality, affordable health care for all and guarantee paid sick and family leave. 

Skyes earned Master’s in Public Health, is passionate about public health, and will never stop fighting for basic rights to healthcare access for all. She believes comprehensive healthcare is a critical means to bolster the health and economic security of Ohio and our nation’s women and families.
