Michelle Vallejo is running to represent TX-15 in South Texas. She comes from a big family of farm workers, immigrants, and entrepreneurs. She attended Columbia University in New York City and returned to the Rio Grande Valley to help her father run their family-owned business. She also co-founded two organizations to support community leaders and minority women in business and volunteered with immigrants’ rights organizations.
Michelle was nominated to run for Congress through a community process organized by LUPE Votes. She hopes to build stronger and healthier neighborhoods in South Texas by supporting comprehensive immigration reform, Medicare for All, a $15-per-hour minimum wage, infrastructure funding, and transitioning to energy efficient systems through a federal jobs program.
She believes in free public college and trade school, and student debt forgiveness once and for all.
