A 50-page document from Martin Kao, former CEO of defense contractor Navatek, alleges he funneled roughly $200,000 in illegal donations to Sen. Susan Collins's 2020 campaign in exchange for tens of millions in Pentagon contracts -- including one $150,000 shell-company donation that preceded a $32 million contract. Collins denies the allegations.
The timing is urgent: this surfaces as Congress finalizes Trump's proposed $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget. Since Trump's DOJ gutted the FBI unit that was building a broader bribery case, the Senate Ethics Committee must open its own investigation before another defense budget passes unresolved.
