Data for Progress

There is very little polling on many key over-the-horizon left ideas, from ending cash bail and defunding ICE to universal basic income and decarbonizing the financial sector. When left issues aren’t polled, they aren’t on the agenda. However, when these issues are polled, they often have strong and durable support, as we found with the job guarantee.

When we first presented data in The Nation, showing broad support for the job guarantee among key voting blocs the idea immediately took off and was covered in Splinter, Politico, New York, The Intercept, Mic, Vox, The Washington Post and The New York Times. Dozens of House candidates and many major Presidential contenders have now embraced the policy.
