In just a few short days, Mississippi Democrat Mike Espy will face off in the year’s final Senate election, a runoff that gives Democrats one last sliver of hope for a shocking 2018 upset.
It's a long shot race. But if we win, Espy would be the first black senator from the state since Reconstruction and the first black Democratic senator ever in Mississippi.
There are only seven days left before the Nov. 27 runoff election, and the polls show we have a real path to victory. Espy needs to turn out a record number of black voters — along with the relatively small number of white Democrats — and win over enough independents to push him over the top.
