Last year, "Democratic" state Rep. Debbie Rodella blocked key voting rights measures in the Democratic-majority New Mexico House by helping ensure it died in committee. Rodella voted with the GOP to kill a same-sex marriage bill, and she repeatedly used her position as chair of a key committee to protect payday lenders—even as she received sizable contributions from the industry.


But now a candidate who represents real Democratic values is taking her on. Susan Herrera is a progressive who wants to expand voting rights and take on payday lenders. She supports improving gun safety laws and is passionate about expanding educational opportunities for New Mexicans.
