We don't need to wait until 2018 to beat Republicans—crucial elections are happening this fall in Virginia, a critical swing state.

Electing Democrat Ralph Northam as Virginia’s next governor is crucial not only to moving the Commonwealth forward, but also to setting the stage for Democratic comebacks all across the country in 2018. Additionally, as Virginia’s next governor, Northam would have the power to approve or veto statehouse and congressional maps in the next round of redistricting. Daily Kos is proud to endorse this progressive champion in this bellwether election.

Virginia's House seats are on the ballot this fall, as well, and Democrats have the opportunity to oust staunch enemies of reproductive and LGBT rights. Hala Ayala, Debra Rodman, Danica Roem, Elizabeth Guzman, Cheryl Turpin, and Schuyler VanValkenburg have stepped up as part of the Resistance to take these Republicans on at the ballot box.
