DMV | Ramadan Fundraiser: Building Community & Economic Defense for Just Futures

We are currently sold out for this iftar tomorrow.

Thank you for your generous donations and support! Please reach out - khudai@muslimsforjustfutures.org - if you would like to join the waitlist if someone else is unable to make it.

Join us this Ramadan in the DMV to build community and economic defense for just futures. As we navigate through a period of profound grief and community resistance amid ongoing genocide in Gaza, increasing state repression, and rising Islamophobia and racism, we aim to gather in solidarity, mourn, organize, and fortify MJF's community and economic defense infrastructure.

In recent months, MJF has played a key role in achieving a ceasefire in Chicago, mobilizing support for direct actions in Palestine, hosting community defense gatherings and healing sessions in partnership with organizations across Chicago and the DMV. We have also fostered movement spaces by convening national organizations and advocating for an abolitionist stance, endorsed by over 100 organizations nationwide. Additionally, we launched the first grassroots guaranteed income program targeting working-class Muslim women heads of households in the DMV, unveiled a new website, and conducted successful organizing institutes in the DMV and Chicago.

As we reflect on the current moment and plan for the future, MJF recognizes the importance of utilizing this Ramadan to mourn, come together in community, and strengthen our community and economic defense efforts.

We invite you to join us in community and support MJF's initiatives. Your contribution will aid in the following key programs:

  • Economic Defense: Providing assistance to working-class community members through our Mutual Aid Fund (zakat eligible), supporting MJF's solidarity economies work including the Guaranteed Income Program and organizing cohorts in Chicago.
  • Political Defense: Backing our civic engagement and community defense cohort in the DMV to train Muslim organizers in canvassing, sharing know-your-rights resources, and fostering networks of community care.
  • Legal Defense: Collaborating with lawyers to develop resources for movement groups on navigating the criminalization of mutual aid and bail funds, and providing legal support to better prepare our movements.
  • Community as Defense: Supporting MJF's membership gatherings, healing justice spaces, and hosting our first national summit in Chicago.

We invite you to join us for an evening dedicated to fundraising for community defense and help us reach our goal of $50,000 during Ramadan to proactively enhance economic stability for our communities.

Pay what you can to join us and invest in community defense - from $20-$5000, to help us support working class Muslim families in our community this year.
