Thank you for visiting my contribution page. I am running for Stockton Unified School District Board of Trustees in District 5 because I believe that youth and their families deserve safe schools and a rigorous curriculum that will prepare them for higher education, the workforce, and being civically engaged in their community.
My objective as a Trustee would be to ensure the school board builds public trust and transparency in our governance. My hope is to challenge the disinformation we have seen throughout our community and to empower constituents with truth and dependability. I plan on working with my fellow Trustees and district staff to address the issues of financial management, board transparency, and board duty of care presented by the recent Grand Jury Report. I plan on ensuring that funds are properly used and that the public’s access to district records and accounting is readily available.
I was born to immigrant parents from the Philippines. I went to 8 different public schools but graduated high school at Ronald E. McNair in Lodi Unified School District. As a first generation college student at the University of California in San Diego, I read Dawn Mabalon’s Little Manila is in the Heart. I was inspired to return to my hometown to build advocacy power for our youth and community to address historical inequity.
Since moving back to Stockton, I’ve worked as a community educator for the Little Manila After School Program, a higher education equity advocate for the Stockton Schools Initiative, and as a youth program coordinator for the Southeast Asian Youth Power Leadership Program and COVID-19 youth outreach and education initiative.
I look forward to serving our students and families on the Stockton Unified School District Board of Trustees.
