Don't Be A Mitch

The "Don't Be A Mitch" campaign is back after a hugely successful 2022 cycle, raising $1.2 million for voter registration groups ahead of the midterm elections. This year, with a tough Senate map, we have no room for error. I put together a list of organizations that I think are best situated to ensure that the Senate stays in Democrats' hands.

Here are the organizations we're currently partnering with:

WISCONSIN DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Wisconsin remains the nation’s critical battleground—the only state where four of the last six presidential races came down to less than 1% margins, and the Electoral College’s tipping-point state in both 2016 and 2020. In a state so closely divided, organizing can win races. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has run a continuous statewide organizing program since 2017—and, since that time, have won 12 out of 15 statewide elections. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin—hailed by the Washington Post as 2020’s “State Party of the Year”—is seeking support to fuel intensive, critical investments in organizing, training, voter protection, and communications—so that we can elect Democrats and defend the future of American democracy.

OHIO DEMOCRATS

In 2023, Ohio Democrats won back to back statewide elections to protect democracy and enshrine abortion rights. But their work is far from over. Control of the U.S. Senate and U.S. House will undoubtedly run through Ohio. In 2024 Ohio Democrats are mobilizing in communities across the state to re-elect Senator Sherrod Brown, and protect three Frontline Congressional races with Marcy Kaptur, Greg Landsman, and Emilia Sykes. Ohio is the only state in the nation with an opportunity to flip control of the state supreme court. Ohio Democrats are building to win and building to last with year-round organizing that empowers volunteer leaders to register voters, increase turnout, and ensure every vote is counted. With strong grassroots structure and innovative digital voter contact, Ohio Democrats are worth the investment.

ARIZONA WINS

Arizona Wins is responsible for turning Arizona blue and will be instrumental in the 2022 election. Arizona is the center of the fight for Democracy with the "fraudit" and countless efforts to limit voting. Arizona Wins works with our 32 partner organizations across the state (including LUCHA, Our Voice Our Vote, Chispa Arizona, Case Action, Mi Familia Vota, Poder Latinx) to advance progressive policies, expand access to the ballot, and coordinate advocacy campaigns to protect the right to vote for all Arizonans. Our strong infrastructure supports our partners’ advocacy efforts. Arizona Wins over the last ten years has been instrumental in shifting Arizona to become a more progressive state-- shifting it from the state of hate and a GOP supermajority to a winning two Senate seats and the presidency while making the statehouse and Senate a battleground up for grabs. The goal is to register 15,000 Democratic voters across 4 battleground districts.

LUCAS KUNCE FOR US SENATE (MISSOURI)

When things get tough, Missourians deserve a U.S. Senator who will stand up and fight for them. That's why 13-year Marine veteran Lucas Kunce is running to replace January 6th coward Josh Hawley in the U.S. Senate. Lucas is building a record-breaking grassroots movement, without a cent from corporate PACs, to take back power for working people. Meanwhile, Hawley remains the least popular Republican Senator up for re-election this year, with approvals even worse than Ted Cruz in Texas and Rick Scott in Florida. GOP insiders had already made this race their top defensive target — but after multiple recent polls found Lucas and Hawley in a statistical tie, we know they'll only ramp up their attacks. This is our best chance to flip a GOP-held U.S. Senate seat in 2024, and your support today will help our campaign stay prepared to fight back in the moments it matters most.

JON TESTER FOR US SENATE (MONTANA)

Jon Tester, a third-generation Montanan and the Senate’s only working dirt farmer, knows there is too much at stake this election cycle to sit this one out. Jon is known for being able to work with both parties to get things done. He’s been named one of the most effective senators in the country, and has passed more bills this Congress than any other member. As Jon gears up for another Senate campaign, pollsters and pundits know two things: First, Jon Tester is no stranger to tough races. And second, don’t bet against the man from Big Sandy. Polling from Morning Consult consistently shows that Jon is one of the most popular senators in the country – of either party. But it’s shaping up to be a tough, expensive race: Every major elections handicapper has ranked this race a Toss Up, and with Sen. Joe Manchin’s retirement, Montana is the only state standing between Mitch McConnell and the gavel. You can bet every dollar that would have gone to West Virginia is now headed straight for the #1 Senate race in the country: Montana. Jon Tester’s campaign has hit the ground running, faster and earlier than ever before. In November, Jon’s campaign became the first Senate Democratic campaign in the country to go up on TV this cycle – and it didn’t come a moment too soon. Republicans and super PACs have been flooding the airwaves in Montana with ads for months.
