Every year, 4 million Americans turn 18. Forty-nine states let students register to vote before their 18th birthday, but only 30% of 18-year-olds are registered by Election Day.

That's 2.8 million young people left on the sidelines—not because they don't care, but because people didn't show up for them.

Recently, Donuts + Democracy's student organizers pulled up to Rolesville High School in North Carolina with donuts and a mission. By the end of the day, 800 students had registered to vote! That's how we roll at D+D. We get sh*t done!

Here's what's really cool: Rolesville High School is over 70% Black and Hispanic—communities that the right wing is trying to push out of our democracy.

And make no mistake: Right-wing organizations aren't sitting out this fight. At least eight Republican governors have moved to put Turning Point USA's "Club America" into public high schools. Indiana's governor is explicitly tying the club to registering students to vote the moment they turn 18.
