Help Us Flip Utah House District 39

I’m Drew Howells— a medically retired veteran, former military public affairs specialist, and longtime advocate for Utah families. I’ve spent years working in our community to change policy, including helping lead the effort that legalized medical cannabis in Utah and helping develop the Utah Medical Cannabis Act.

I’ve done the work outside the Capitol. Now I’m running to do it inside.

I’m running for the Utah House because too many families are doing everything right and still falling behind. Housing costs more. Groceries cost more. Healthcare, utilities, insurance, and property taxes keep climbing. Yet instead of tackling those problems, our Legislature keeps finding time for culture wars, political power grabs, and policies that make life harder for ordinary Utahns.

My opponent, Ken Ivory, has been part of that problem.

He voted to override the voters on Proposition 2. He supported the rollback of Proposition 3. He fought the independent redistricting reforms voters approved through Proposition 4. And he has been one of the Legislature’s leading voices behind Utah’s book-ban laws.

It’s the same pattern again and again: more power for politicians and less trust in voters, parents, teachers, librarians, patients, and local communities.

I’m running to change that.

I want Utah focused on the kitchen-table issues that actually affect our lives: making housing more affordable, strengthening public education, protecting healthcare, cleaning up our air, saving the Great Salt Lake, protecting our public lands, defending individual liberty, and making sure taxpayers actually get something back for the money they send to the state.

And we can win this race!!!

House District 39— covering parts of West Jordan, Sandy, and Midvale— is one of the most competitive legislative districts in Utah. This isn’t a protest campaign or a symbolic challenge. We have a real opportunity to flip this seat and send a representative to the Capitol who will work for the people who actually live here.

But winning a competitive district takes resources.

Every contribution helps us knock more doors, print more literature, reach more voters online, communicate with voters by mail, put signs in neighborhoods, and build the field operation we need to compete all the way through Election Day.

And money raised now is especially valuable. A dollar today gives us more time to put that dollar to work — identifying persuadable voters, building relationships, organizing volunteers, and reaching our neighbors more than once before they cast their ballots.

Will you chip in $39.39 for House District 39 today?

Whether it’s $10, $25, $39.39, $100, or whatever makes sense for your family, you’re helping build a campaign capable of winning this seat.

I believe public service should mean exactly that: service.

This seat doesn’t belong to a political party, a special interest, or the person who currently occupies it. It belongs to the people of West Jordan, Sandy, and Midvale.

Help us win it back.

— Drew
