Thank you for your interest in the Dubuque Branch NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet. This year’s event will be held on Saturdday 23 November at Diamond Jo Casino, 301 Bell Street. The Conference Center will open at 5:00 p.m.
The keynote speaker at the Freedom Fund Banquet will be Betty C. Andrews, who is President of the Iowa Nebraska NAACP State Area Conference of Branches, an organization of 30 units. Andrews is also president & CEO of Betty Andrews Media (BAM,) a media, events, and strategic communications firm that produces “I’ll Make Me a World in Iowa”, an African American Festival. Andrews was elected President of the Iowa-Nebraska NAACP State Area Conference of Branches in 2014. Since then, with the support of the units, she has significantly increased the visibility, platform, and achievements of the NAACP in both states including highly successful advocacy for law and policy changes. Andrews is also a 10-year elected member of the National NAACP Resolutions Committee. In December 2023, Andrews was elected to the NAACP National Board of Directors. She joined the 64–member board representing the Midwestern Region. (Region IV) which covers the largest geographic area among the seven regions of the NAACP, spanning across 10 states.
Monies raised from the Freedom Fund banquet provide the operating funding for Dubuque Branch NAACP, as well as supporting the annual MLK Student Tribute and our Minority Scholarship program.
