His public service began early — Jared was elected to the Parkland City Commission while still in law school. During his six-year tenure, he championed public safety and environmental initiatives, including one of the state’s first local bans on texting while driving.

After the tragic 2018 mass shooting at his alma mater, Jared became a leading advocate for gun safety and mental health reform. He played a key role in crafting and passing the bipartisan Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, Florida’s most comprehensive school safety and gun violence prevention legislation. He remains a trusted partner to many of the families affected by the tragedy.

In 2022, Jared Moskowitz was elected to Congress, succeeding Congressman Ted Deutch. In Congress, he serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, which oversees the State Department’s Office of Inspector General and its intelligence and research functions. He also serves on the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and the Indo-Pacific, where he helps shape U.S. policy toward one of the most strategically important regions in the world. Jared has led on key foreign policy issues, including America’s unwavering support for Israel, backing Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked war, and strengthening diplomatic ties throughout the Western Hemisphere.
