In 2024, Durham continued to lead North Carolina in support for Democratic candidates, providing an all-time record number of raw votes for our county and increasing our already-huge blue margins that, in some races, were the difference between winning and losing. While the national election results were disappointing, North Carolina resisted the strong red wave and Durham outperformed the state as a whole on that measure as well. We won hugely important statewide races that will benefit North Carolinians the next four years.
We did all of this by running a record-breaking voter outreach program, knocking on over 150,000 doors, making tens of thousands of phone calls,writing ten thousand postcards, and hosting countless events.
Moving into 2025, there is so much work to be done to build on our successes and grow Durham's influence by increasing our community engagement and projecting our Democratic power into neighboring counties via volunteer support and other initiatives.
