Alaska-At large (AK-AL) is a statewide race and the only representative seat for AK in congress.
Mary Peltola, born in 1973 in Alaska, is a Native Yup’ik and was raised along the Kuskokwim River. Her connection to Alaska’s Indigenous communities deeply informs her leadership and advocacy. She has raised seven children with her husband, Gene Peltola, Jr.
Peltola attended the University of Alaska and has a long-standing career in public service. She served in the Alaska State House from 1999 to 2009, representing Bethel. She was a relentless advocate for fisheries and Indigenous rights. In 2022, Peltola became the first Alaska Native to serve in the U.S. Congress after winning a special election, succeeding the late Rep. Don Young.
