Adam Gray is a seasoned politician and educator from California who has played a significant role in the state’s legislative affairs. Born and raised in Merced, California, Gray has deep roots in the San Joaquin Valley, a region he has served for many years in the California State Assembly.


Gray was first elected to the California Assembly in 2012, representing the 21st District, which includes Merced County and parts of Stanislaus County. His educational background includes time as a professor at the University of California, Merced, where he taught political science, demonstrating his commitment to education and public service.


During his tenure in the Assembly, Gray has been particularly noted for his work on infrastructure and healthcare. He played a pivotal role in addressing the doctor shortage in the Central Valley, helping to secure funding and policy changes to attract medical professionals to underserved areas. Additionally, Gray was instrumental in obtaining funds to extend the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) train to Modesto and Merced, a move aimed at improving transportation connectivity and reducing traffic congestion in the region.


As the leader of the New Democratic Caucus, Gray has been a proponent of centrist, pragmatic policies, often focusing on economic development and job creation in his district.
