U.S. House seat for 53rd Congressional District from California will be an OPEN seat this November; Rep. Susan Davis (D) is not running for re-election. Let us keep this seat blue with the incredibly highly accomplished Sara Jacobs.
Sara Jacobs is an experienced policy-maker through her work for Pres.Obama's State Dept, UNICEF, and the United Nations. She was also foreign policy advisor to Secretary Hillary Clinton during her 2016 campaign for president. In the 2017-18 cycle Sara ran in the primary race for CA-49 (where she was raised and then lived). Sara Jacobs has always been a San Diegan and returned to San Diego for work.
Sara Jacobs now works for the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice Center at San Diego University, San Diego, CA. The Kroc IPJ works with peacemakers to develop powerful new approaches to end cycles of violence. This is an area in which Sara Jacobs has done tremendous work.
Sara Jacobs served in key policy positions in the U.S. State department for Pres. Obama's administration. She worked on U.S. policy towards conflict zones in East and West Africa. She played lead roles in improving governance in security sector of USA's counter-terrorism partners, including efforts aimed at countering the Boko Haram, in the midst of the kidnapping of Chibok schoolgirls.
At the UN Dept of Peacekeeping Operations, Sara Jacobs worked to unify stakeholders to develop guidelines to promote peaceful and credible democratic elections.
At the UNICEF, Sara Jacobs worked on a strategy that allows organizations to leverage massive data for the purpose of addressing humanitarian challenges; her work led to building a data-science team that is still operating today to assist UNICEF's response to the Ebola and Zika outbreaks.
Sara Jacobs was clearly born to riches, yet marched her own path to pursue a career to fight for a fairer and more equitable world.
Sara Jacobs had entrance to MIT; she chose to pursue per passion for public service with education in politics; she earned her BA in political science, and Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University.
Sara Jacobs is a strong Democrat.
If elected, Sara Jacobs will be one of the youngest female U.S. House Reps. Yet, she'd be one with tremendous depth in policy-making, including leveraging new and advanced technology for public health!
