Carl Marlinga is a prominent Democratic candidate running for Congress in Michigan’s 10th District. His extensive legal background and decades of public service are central to his campaign, positioning him as an experienced leader who understands the needs of his community.


Marlinga has deep roots in Michigan, having served as the Macomb County Prosecutor for nearly 40 years and later as a judge in the 16th Judicial Circuit Court and Probate Court. Throughout his career, he has been a staunch advocate for justice, focusing on issues such as expanding diversity in the prosecutor’s office, protecting victims of domestic violence, and cracking down on white-collar crime. One of his notable accomplishments was founding the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program, which ensures timely examination and support services for victims of sexual crimes. Marlinga’s leadership has also included working to assist seniors defrauded by financial scams and advocating for individuals facing mental health challenges .


In Congress, Marlinga intends to focus on creating jobs in advanced technology, rebuilding America’s manufacturing supply chain, and safeguarding Michigan’s natural resources, particularly the Great Lakes. His top priorities include ensuring that working families, small businesses, and manufacturers have the support they need to thrive in the 21st century .


Marlinga is seeking to unseat Republican John James, who narrowly won the district in 2022. The 10th District, while slightly leaning Republican, remains competitive, especially given that James won by less than one percentage point in their previous matchup . Marlinga’s long-standing commitment to his community and his comprehensive platform provide him with a strong foundation to potentially flip this seat.
