Teresa Leger Fernandez (D) has been a legal services entrepreneur for three decades. She has served as an attorney for tribal sovereignty - as counsel for tribes - on a wide range of business activities, voting, election rights and voters' voice representation.


Teresa Leger Fernandez earned her BA from Yale Univ and JD from Stanford, and returned home to New Mexico to serve her community. She was an appointee under President Clinton's and Pres. Obama's administrations.


Teresa Leger Fernandez has fought for and brought resources in federal grants to the district for various projects ranging from healthcare to infrastructure and clean energy (solar).


Teresa Leger Fernandez has also served as the Chair and Board member of Homewise that has helped thousands of families buy affordable homes.


Teresa Federnadez is an active member of local community, serving as Vice chair of Mexican American Legal Defense Fund (MALDEF) and Vice Chair of New Mexico Community Foundation, and served as president and actress in La Compania de Albuquerque, a bilingual theater company.


Teresa Fernandez is a strong Democrat, a product of HeadStart program. She is also familiar with the challenges of pre-existing health conditions and has seriously fought for voter rights.
