Elaine Luria (D) is the current representative from Virginia's 2nd congressional district (VA-02), first elected in 2018.
Elaine Luria is a veteran - a retired Navy commander - who was deployed six times to the Middle East and the Western Pacific as a nuclear-trained Surface Warfare Officer. Elaine spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy on combatant ships; at the end of her 20-year Navy career, she was the commander of a combat-ready unit of 400 sailors. Elaine was one of the first women in the Navy's nuclear power program. She retired from Navy on June 1, 2017, and returned to her home in Norfolk.
Upon return, Elaine Luria became an entrepreneur. She created a thriving retail and art (small) business "Mermaid Factory" which now has two locations.
Elaine Luria is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and has also earned her Masters's degree in Engineering Management from ODU.
Elaine, her husband and daughter live in Norfolk VA, in VA-02. She is committed to protecting our country and creating an economy that works for all.
