Abigail Spanberger (D) is the current representative from Virginia's 7th congressional district (VA-07), first elected in 2018.


Previously, Abigail Spanberger has served the nation through her work on covert operations at the CIA, and specifically the local community through her work (since leaving CIA) for colleges and universities in promoting access to higher education and graduation rate among diverse communities. 


Abigail grew up in Short Pump (Henrico County) and went to Tucker HS Spanish Immersion program. She served as a Senate page for U.S.Senator Chuck Robb (D-VA). She earned her bachelors from Univ of Virginia. Then moved to Germany where she earned MBA from German-American dual-degree program between GISMA business school and Purdue Univ. She then joined the CIA as an Operations Officer. She has traveled and lived around the world, gathering intelligence and managing covert assets and overseeing important programs in the service of the USA.


In 2014, Abigail left the government service and began career in the private sector. She has worked at EAB - Royall & Company, and worked with colleges and universities to create diverse student bodies and increase graduation rates, and breaking barriers to enable financial reachability of higher education.


Abigail Spanberger, her husband Adam and their children live in Glen Allen, VA in the district.  Abigail takes seriously her oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the USA against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Abigail is a strong Democrat. She is pro-choice (on Emily's List). She is committed to ensuring that every person has access to quality and affordable healthcare.
