We received the news about the most recent honeybee count, and the situation is dire. Wild and managed bees are dying at an almost unthinkable rate. Now, our nation’s beekeepers are reporting the highest summer loss rate ever recorded: Between April and October last year, a staggering 32% of colonies were lost.
It’s not just bee populations that are being decimated. 40% of all wild invertebrate pollinators are on the brink of extinction. If we lose our pollinators it could mean ecological collapse on a scale we’ve never seen before.
Take Action. Donate to Friends of the Earth and help protect pollinators like the honeybee.
