Help retire Ed's Debt for San Leandro City Council 2024!

"Leadership is not about being in charge. It is about taking care of those in your charge." – Simon Sinek

I offer my thanks to my wife, Katherine Greenberg, and my girls (Rachel & Sarah) as well as Mayor Juan Gonzalez and all the other current and former elected officials, friends, neighbors, supporters and other family members for their sacrifice and support for my campaign for San Leandro City Council.

A special mention to my campaign committee for their time and commitment to this campaign: Trustee Evelyn Gonzalez, Former Mayors Stephen Cassidy (and his family), Shelia Young & Pauline Cutter, Trustee Leo Sheridan, Trustee Aisha Knowles, Former Council Members Lee Thomas & Corina Lopez, Louis Heystek, Dominic Gonzalez, Jeff Falero, Meneka Mahajan and Zachary Borja.

While I wish the outcome was different, it was an extremely close election. I am proud of the vigorous, issue-focused campaign we ran. Most of all, I deeply appreciate the support of the over 14,000 San Leandro residents who voted for me.

Your vote was for a safer San Leandro for all. I am certain the vast majority of the voters who supported my opponent have the same desire for our community.

I truly wish the new City Council will focus its attention and efforts on leading our community through the challenges of public safety, the financial challenges to fix our roads and maintain our streets, drive housing solutions for all and encourage business development, supporting our small and established businesses in San Leandro.

It is vital that San Leandro be a city with good paying jobs and remain an attractive city for all who want to shop, play and stay here, like a vibrant downtown and an re-imagined Bay Fair Mall for families and friends to gather, safely.

I will continue to represent San Leandro as a Director on the Eden Health District, focused on improving health outcomes for the most vulnerable of our community and supporting the safety net hospitals of San Leandro Hospital and St. Rose Hospital in Hayward. I am proud to have recently awarded over $270,000 to local non-profits!

Finally, I hope the community will come together in the future to examine and reform our City Charter. In particular, San Leandro should adopt District-based elections for City Council (as opposed to our current system where the candidate must reside in the District but voting is by all residents citywide). This will reinvigorate our local government. Running for City Council should be more affordable, accessible and attainable for trustworthy and ethical candidates.

Thank you for your trust in my efforts to serve you for the past 13 years and entrust that you encourage your friends and family, especially our youth, to vote in 2026.

¡Adelante, Juntos!

-Ed.
