Educators In & Educators Into Office

Goal thermometer

EIEIO connects people who care about public education with educators who are running for public office to support public schools, educators and students.

Students, parents and all community members benefit when the voices, values and skills of educators are included on school boards, state legislatures and Congress.

Our 2015 candidates are running aggressive, competitive campaigns in evenly-split, winnable districts. They need your help right now to win their elections this year.

  • Sara Townsend is a former 6th grade Social Studies & U.S. History teacher who is frustrated by the way politicians are ignoring the real needs of public schools. She's pursuing a PhD in Education Policy and wants to bring a teacher's non-partisan approach to education funding, policy and testing reform.
  • Shelly Simonds is a former Spanish teacher and current School Board Member in Newport News who's focused on expanding pre-K, reforming testing so it helps instead of punishes, and getting Virginia's teachers pay up to the National Average.
Your support for these worthy candidates will help make sure they have the best chance possible of winning and giving educators in Virginia two strong voices in the State Legislature.
