Donate to the Committee to Re-elect Coleman Hunt

My name is Coleman Hunt, and I am running for re-election to the Cleveland County Board of Education to continue representing teachers, students, parents, and the community to ensure our children receive the best opportunities available in a safe, nurturing, and positive environment. I believe creating new mechanisms to support teachers and improve student literacy while maintaining fiscal responsibility is essential. I think it is the responsibility of the board to assist the schools and teachers in devising a plan to help students emerge stronger from the COVID-19 crisis by adding necessary resources and capitalizing on activities that worked. With forty years of experience in the Cleveland County School system as an educator, teacher, coach, athletic director, and principal, I know the responsibility of delivering essential services during crises.

I have served on the Cleveland County School Board for the past five years and act on the Head Start Policy Council, Education, and Policy Committees. I understand how decisions and policies affect our students, teachers, and community. I know that transparency, respectful dialogue, and active listening are essential and assist in making informed decisions. My extensive educational background, community volunteerism, and work with various community and agency boards revealed that diverse perspectives lead to better decision-making. My colleagues coined me “the voice of reason” due to my skills in empathic listening, calm nature, and K-12 education experience, which help ensure the board’s work is accomplished.

I have been a resident and employee of Cleveland County all my life. My wife of 32 years, Dee Hunt, serves as my campaign consultant. We have two adult children educated in the Cleveland County School System (Ashelin Hunt and Dr. Austin Hunt) and a host of adult children we have mentored and parented over the years. Educating children for a better society has been the center of my life’s work. Another term on the school board allows me to continue pouring into our children’s future and advocate for quality education.

Thank you in advance for your kind generosity. Any amount you can contribute to my campaign will help me in my quest to continue fighting for what is best for our school system, its students, teachers and employees.
