My name is Coleman Hunt, and I’m running for the Cleveland County Board of Education because I believe in the future of our students and the strength of our schools. I have been a lifelong resident of Cleveland County and have dedicated over forty years to serving the Cleveland County School System as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and previously as a board member.
Educating children for a better society has been the center of my life’s work. I am committed to ensuring every student receives a quality public education and is well prepared for college, trade school, or the workforce. I strongly support partnerships with community colleges, dual enrollment opportunities, and innovative scheduling that gives students a real advantage.
I am also a strong advocate for our teachers — supporting better pay, career growth programs like “Grow Your Own,” and incentives to attract and retain great educators. School safety, parent engagement, and open communication remain top priorities.
My wife of 32 years, Dee Hunt, and I have two adult children who were educated in the Cleveland County School System — Ashelin Hunt, now a teacher in the system, and Dr. Austin Hunt, a practicing dentist. Over the years, we have also mentored and supported many young people in our community, treating them like family.
As a grandfather, I want to help ensure a strong foundation for every child in Cleveland County. I ask for your support so we can continue working together for our students, our teachers, and our community—and continue investing in the future of Cleveland County.
